We get a whole lot of natural movement and genuine faces because this area is SO easy to settle into. It’s a highly walkable, super vibrant area that has so much to do. We’ll get into all the little important details, but first things first… Please make sure your engagement session feels like a date. Do things you love! Be yourself! Get silly!! That’s where the absolute best pictures come from, babes. Trust me.

Best Locations for Lakeview Chicago Engagement Photos

Lakeview is jam-packed with spots that make signs light up and make alarms go off in my little Chicago engagement photographer brain. So, if you’re wondering where we might actually go once we’re in Lakeview… Here are some places that you might wanna look into: 

• F. O’Mahony’s – for the cutest little awning and the BEST pub food. If you love grungy vibes and dive bar energy, this is a place that you can’t miss. Plus, fries + beer during your engagement session is always a plus. 
• Pingpong – if you want part of your gallery to feel like an actual dinner date instead of a photoshoot, this is such a fun stop. The interiors give us a completely different look from the street photos outside, so your gallery gets way more variety without us driving all over Chicago.
• Wang’s – the cutest little neighborhood bar with neon signs that add some depth and variety to your gallery?? It’s a yes from me. I love the dark red, bold, funky energy, and if you’re a little spunky… You will too. 
• Music Box Theatre – okay, La La Land. Renting out the vintage theatre is classy and also completely unique. I love it every time. 

Also, if you just kinda want to end up wherever the wind takes us… I’m so here for it. We can walk around Lakeview all your little heart desires, and just pop in wherever feels right. Love that. 

The Best Time of Day for Lakeview Engagement Photos

The sweet spot for engagement shoot timing is where we dodge the crowds, get the best lighting, and have plenty of time for us to take pictures that don’t feel rushed. In my experience shooting in Chicago, that’s earlier in the day on a weekday, but I’m always here to help plan the best time for your specific session. If that looks like me grabbing a cold brew, then heading to take pics… That’s kinda my perfect day. 

Note that Lakeview has a lot of fun shops and restaurants, so if it fits your personality to pop into any of them, we need to plan around being sure that they’re open!! We’ll chat about it beforehand, so don’t worry too much about planning all of this on your own.

My top tip will always be to do what you naturally do. 

Love going to bars? Let’s go to the bar. If you guys have a coffee shop you frequent, let’s hit it. 

When you’re already comfortable in a space and doing something you love, you’ll get pictures that feel totally natural and 100% like you. All I want is for your personality to come through, because that’s when you’ll get photos you loveee!!
