The Ivy Room is one of those places that’s equal parts stylish, modern, and elegant. It’s never boring, and it actually lets you infuse your personality into your day. As a Chicago wedding photographer who loves all things editorial, nostalgic, and a little funky, the Ivy Room is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph. It’s the kind of venue that works with you, not against you. And if you’re someone who cares about atmosphere, emotion, and photos that feel intentional instead of posed… yeah. You’re gonna love it here. This isn’t a logistics-heavy venue breakdown; it’s what it actually feels like to get married at the Ivy Room, from someone who’s photographed it.

If you’re looking for a sign to get married at the Ivy Room, this is it. It speaks to so many different styles and makes the perfect backdrop, no matter your wedding aesthetic. You can walk in and just feel your day unfold here, whether it’s a funky disco day full of color or a day filled with timeless elegance. It’s flexible without feeling blank and stylish without stealing the spotlight, which is honestly a dream as a photographer. And that’s one of the (many) reasons that I love this Chicago wedding venue oh-so much.
Not to mention, it’s seriously stunning. For your reception, there’s an indoor ballroom-esque that feels elevated but still warm. Outside, the ivy-covered courtyard is the moment. It’s intimate, romantic, and gives your ceremony this quiet, nostalgic energy that photographs beautifully every single time. The space really does a lot of the heavy lifting for you, which means you don’t need to overdo the decor unless maximalism is your thing (and if it is… I’m so here for it).

The flow of the day is always effortless. And that calm atmosphere makes a huge difference in how your photos turn out, trust me. And the dreamy lighting? It definitely doesn’t hurt either. You move through your wedding day here so easily, which makes it so natural for me to capture the little moments of your day in the background. And when it’s time for your more posed, editorial moment, you never have to feel rushed or awkward, and there’s no shortage of how creative we can get. Okay, but seriously, I can’t express enough how perfect the Ivy Room is for any wedding aesthetic. Your dream wedding? It’ll fit in here.
If you’re someone who wants a highly produced ballroom experience with strict structure, the Ivy Room in Chicago might not be your place. But if you want intention without stiffness… This is the one.

If you’re one of my type A girlies and you have a million more questions, I’ve got you. These are questions my couples ask me all the time about the Chicago wedding venue, all in one spot for ya.
When is the best time of year for photos at the Ivy Room?
The Ivy Room hits every season. The photos we get from spring and summer weddings, though? Literally something out of a dream. Being able to head outdoors without freezing (so I can get you in front of the ivy-covered wall that gives me life) is a must.

What does an indoor vs outdoor ceremony feel like at the Ivy Room?
An indoor ceremony brings you a feel of classic elegance, and an outside ceremony will fit you better if you want something with a little bit of an industrial edge. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either, but whichever speaks to who you are is the one.

Where are the best places to take photos at and around the Ivy Room?
A question that speaks directly to my heart. Love. As a Chicago wedding photographer, you know I’ve got the best places down!
The ivy-covered wall will forever have my heart. Add in the balconies, the moody interior lighting, and the texture throughout the space, and it’s basically an editorial playground.

And of course, I’ll never pass up the chance to step outside for some Chicago street photos. Those in-between moments always end up being my favorites.
If you’re wanting to head even further, the Four Seasons Chicago hotel is a dream. Simone and Nick got ready here and we got some insane photos.

If your wedding moodboard is all about timeless, meaningful, elegant moments, you’re gonna love this one. A candlelit dinner, an elegant blue color palette, and a killer reception made this day everything. Every little detail was luxe and full of intention, which is like all of my favorite things in one!
The Ivy Room was the most amazing backdrop for a day like this. It held all of Simone and Nick’s best moments effortlessly, from the heartfelt ceremony to the dance floor that would not quit. It made everything feel easy and smooth, and it’ll live rent-free in my head forever.

If there’s something inside you whispering, “choose the Ivy Room,” trust that. And if you want your wedding photos to feel emotional, editorial, and true to who you are, I’d love to be there documenting it all. You can inquire about booking me here.
