my little corner of inspiration
When I was younger I kept a little journal hidden under my mattress where I would draw and express my creativity, write down my memories, and document my hopes and dreams. It was a safe place for me to express myself without judgment. Now, twenty years later, I am reinventing the little journal I once hid away and sharing it with all of you. Here you will find vulnerability, creativity, and a new found way for me to showcase my work with the world.
Do you ever have a vision in your head that you can’t stop thinking about? Well, that is how this shoot came to be! I work with Annette creatively on many shoots and she is SO much fun to collaborate and work with. We drove out to the North Shore in Chicago and made this vision come to life right at sunset. The most magical part of this day? There was barely anyone there! We pretty much had the beach to ourselves on this perfect summer night.
The vibe for this shoot was inspired by vintage Vogue magazines, 1920’s pinup posters, and Baywatch. I love how the photos came out. To be honest, this shoot was the start of a huge shift in my photography journey. I played around with a lot of different editing techniques (shoutout to Annette for trusting me) and fell in love with this new style. It is actually how I am still editing to this day! Creative shoots really help ignite my fire and this one allowed me to step out of my comfort zone and own my editing style.
